March, 2004 Archives

March 25, 2004 - Both Myriam Bédard in Canada and Richard Clarke in the United States have made sensational and shocking allegations against their respective governments that have fuelled the fires of intrigue and speculation.  Unfortunately they have also provided enough doubts about their own credibility to relegate their fantastic claims as nothing more than fodder for the scripts of ongoing political soap operas. March 24, 2004 - The federal budget is reminiscent of Paul Martin's style, that being long on ideas and promises, and short on delivery. (click here to continue)

March 23, 2004 - Comments on the details of the federal budget are forthcoming.

March 22, 2004 - Now that Stephen Harper has won the leadership of the Conservative Party, the only thing that seems certain about the upcoming election is the fact that at this point, a majority government for any party looks like a pipe dream. (click here to continue)

March 19, 2004 - Paul Martin's New Brunswick disappointment, a laughable interview in the National Post, and George W. Bush disgustingly exploits TDH's country of origin. (click here to continue)

March 18, 2004 - Watching Alfonso Gagliano testify in front of the Public Accounts Committee this morning was a viewing experience grounded in futility, as based on his answers and attitude, committee members are unlikely to get any answers of substance and/or insight from a man determined to stonewall the process. March 17, 2004 - Paul Martin not only has the money, but is hiding it, and the NDP shows huge progress towards once again forming government in British Columbia. (click here to continue)

March 16, 2004 - It is absolutely infuriating to watch the leader of our nation try to be everything to everyone, only to continually back away from the many roles he so deftly fails to fulfill. (click here to continue)

March 15, 2004 - Based on a damning story in the Vancouver Sun this morning, British Columbia has finally begun to show the signs of the Liberal cronyism and disregard for public tax dollars that has emerged from across the rest of the country. (click here to continue)

March 12, 2004 - A pending decision by a federal judge will have huge impact on the copyright and privacy laws in this country, and determine the fate of 29 individuals caught up in a cyber witch hunt by the Canadian recording industry. (click here to continue)

March 11, 2004 - The NHL is far from a labour dispute away from resolving the sad state of the game, and Paul Martin perfects the art of a time treasured political tactic, the ignorance denial. (click here to continue)

March 10, 2004 - Of all the scenarios that have been proposed by Democrats desperately fighting to defeat US President George W. Bush, this by far is the most intriguing of the bunch. (click here to continue)

March 9, 2004 - Plenty of political intrigue from across the country.   (click here to continue)

March 8, 2004 - Involvement in party politics has always been for those with a strong constitution and thick skin, but after witnessing the ugliness that emerged from the political battles of the weekend, why would anyone bother? (click here to continue)

March 5, 2004 - Martha Stewart has just been convicted on all four counts she faced in her highly publicized trial.  After deliberating for two days, an eight woman, four man jury found Stewart guilty of obstructing justice and lying to the government about her sale of more than 3,900 shares of ImClone Systems stock in December 2001.

It will be interesting to see whether Martha will be able to spruce up the traditional attire that she will become very accustomed to in the near future.  Now that's Martha Stewart Living.

March 4, 2004 - Effective political communications does not necessitate delivering every message perfectly.  It does, however, entail knowing when to change course and/or to scrap ideas.  In the case of the Conservative Party's recent slate of advertising, such a decision would be extremely wise. March 3, 2004 - Although most of the media here on the west coast continue to cry foul because of the limited nature of the police summaries released yesterday, they still present compelling evidence of the monumental scandal that will soon erupt in the faces of both Gordon Campbell's and Paul Martin's respective Liberal governments. (click here to continue)

March 2, 2004 - Like always, Paul Martin is "making it very clear" that "in fact" he will put an end to the patronage system in this country by handing over the reins of decision making to parliamentary committees (clarity and Martin seem like the perfect odd couple, but that's fodder for another commentary).  Anyone who knows anything about the history of politics and government in Canada can only utter two words: not likely. March 1, 2004 - The TDH Pick'em/Kick'em Election Pool begins today.  Anyone interested in showing off their political I.Q. to a national audience should continue reading. (click here)
