June 30, 2004 - A minority government provides Paul Martin with less of a mandate to "fix healthcare" then he had previous to the election. (click here to continue)

June 29, 2004 - Paul Martin achieves a respectable minority government, even if it wasn't what he envisioned upon taking the reins of the country back in December. (click here to continue)

June 28, 2004 - A dirty, vicious and vacuous campaign ends today, destined to finish with far more questions than answers. (click here to continue)

June 25, 2004 - Quick election notes on a busy Friday before E-day. (click here to continue)

June 23, 2004 - History will remember this election campaign for many reasons, not the least of which is the electoral strategy of the Liberals to try and scare the sh*t out of voters. (click here to continue)

June 22, 2004 - Dueling polls between the two national dailies reveal more about their flagrant partisan preferences then they do about the possible outcomes of the election. (click here to continue)

June 21, 2004 - Air Canada would not have been a campaign issue of great importance for Stephen Harper, had it not been for the dark cloud from his child pornography accusations hanging over the Conservative campaign. (click here to continue)

June 18, 2004 - The final 10 days of negative campaigning, David Herle's pathetic accusation, and the reason Stephen Harper and Paul Martin are in the same boat. (click here to continue)

June 17, 2004 - The Liberal pollster that has added a touch of smugness to the Conservative campaign. (click here to continue)

June 16, 2004 - The English debate proved to be an entertaining piece of political theatre, and even if there was no decisive winner, last night cemented the likelihood that the Liberal reign in office is coming to an end. (click here to continue)

June 15, 2004 - A lacklustre debate produces a wishy-washy result, and the political connections behind a "non-partisan" pro-choice website. (click here to continue)

June 14, 2004 - What each of the party leaders must accomplish in the crucial televised debates. (click here to continue)

June 12, 2004 - Jim Travers from this morning's Toronto Star:

"Intriguingly, those around the Prime Minister now see the benefit of thinking small. Instead of claiming Martin is the Mr. Fix-it of politics, the guy who can do everything, they are hurriedly repositioning the leader as someone who can be trusted to do one thing right."

Well, it's about bloody time. (click here to continue)

June 4, 2004 - Stephen Owen and the Liberals can't make their mind up, and the Conservative party's tactical errors that could bring a huge momentum shift to the campaign. (click here to continue)

June 3, 2004 - UPDATE:  To those who doubted the validity of this site's reporting on June 1 that Dave Haggard was having serious second thoughts about his Liberal candidacy, check out the last news item found at this link.

You heard it here first.

June 3, 2004 - Stephen Harper has gone through great lengths to moderate himself in his views on issues such as bilingualism, antagonistic regionalism, and of course, health care.  And, for the most part, he has done a reasonably good job of deflating Liberal criticisms of his so-called "extreme" past.

Towards that end, on May 6 in the Toronto Star he was quoted as saying that a Conservative government "is not going to be tabling abortion legislation or holding an abortion referendum. I've always said these things can come up in Parliament. If they do they're free votes, but I have no agenda on that issue."

Which begs the question, why waver on that position now? (click here to continue)

June 2, 2004 - As an addendum to today's earlier commentary, and based strictly on its sheer entertainment value, this could go down as the best quote of the campaign:

"I apologize for there being that small protest outside, but I have to tell you I have no control over where the Liberal party holds its cabinet meetings." - Conservative Leader Stephen Harper to the Toronto Board of Trade.

June 2, 2004 - Judging by the nasty tone of the several emails and phone calls received, this website's commentary obviously struck a chord with those within the Liberal party electoral machine yesterday (all communicated without identifying names, bien sur).

Not to fear, says the Liberal brain trust, because when the chips are down, the organization counters low morale by sending in its cheerleaders to pep up the team and distract the opposition.  Hey, hold on a second...those aren't cheerleaders - they're just Cabinet Ministers. (click here to continue)

June 1, 2004 - UPDATE: Word has just been received that Paul Martin did indeed have a meeting with fomer IWA Canada president and current Liberal candidate Dave Haggard this morning.  With the release of a new slate of television ads that feature Mr. Haggard so prominently, Mr. Haggard's resignation as a candidate would be a huge blow to the fortunes of the Liberal party in BC. If there is silence from Mr. Haggard over the next couple of days, it will indicate that Martin was successful in quelling his fears.
