What is fascinating is that municipal governments and regional districts and boards from across Canada have already begun to calculate these proposed gas tax revenues into their budgetary revenue projections.  Take for example Translink's current 10 Year Transportation Plan, which optimistically references Prime Minister Paul Martin's Union of BC Municipalities conference speech from September 25:

"...no matter how long it takes, we are going to provide Canadian municipalities with a portion of the federal gas tax."

These are the preliminary stages of a comprehensive policy overhaul within the Federal government.  Municipal officials would be wise to sit tight and wait for details to unfold.
