February 22, 2007 - Should Navdeep Bains' character be questioned because of a Vancouver Sun story about his father-in-law? Absolutely not. Mr. Bains is his own man, and has a right to some respect for his private life, particularly when it comes to his family.

However, while it may be ludicrous and offensive to suggest that the Liberal party's position on the Anti-Terrorism Act was taken to shield Bains from scrutiny, the number of highly contentious issues wrapped up in this debate, particularly when it comes to the Air India public inquiry, must be carefully considered

This stance will not be popular with everyone, and regardless of the community, very distinct and passionate differences are going to emerge.

There are many more realms of politics than those that are centred in Ottawa, and Liberals would be wise to broaden their scope.
